Our Beyond Medicine video series on social media has been a set of awareness-raising conversations about wellness, trauma and social issues. You may have noticed that we paused the series for the last few months. We’ve been quietly compiling a book series that encompasses almost all the topics and episodes since we began Beyond Medicine in 2020. Our book series is a call to go deeper. It is a companion for those ready to understand themselves more honestly, live more intentionally, and heal in ways that ripple outward—into families, communities, and the planet itself.
Our three-volume Beyond Medicine book series is a journey into your past to inform your present, and inspire your future.
Volume I: The Roots of Wellness – Food, Lifestyle and Compassion
We begin where change is most tangible—your daily life. The way you eat, move, think, and regulate your emotions is not random; it shapes your long-term health and the health of the world around you. This volume brings you back to the foundations—step by step and with clarity. We break down Lifestyle Devils (our harmful daily habits) and how they feed Lifestyle Demons (lifestyle diseases), then examine healthier habits and how to break out of negativity. We close with a call to eat compassionately to steward all life on the planet.
Volume II: Uprooting Patriarchy – Self-Love and Gender Equality
Next, we go deeper. Into trauma. Into identity. Into the inherited beliefs that quietly shape self-worth, relationships, and health outcomes – we explore the patriarchy that pushes us into unhealthy habits. We look at the way patriarchy harms LGBTQIA+ individuals and children. We take a deep dive into women’s bodies and all their invisible physical and emotional labor. We examine how patriarchy harms men while labeling them superior. We examine the resulting trauma that plagues relationships, and end with a call to embrace feminist self-care and gender equality as viable solutions. This is where real healing begins—when we name what has shaped us and choose differently.
Volume III: Collective Healing – From Oppression to Belonging
Finally, we widen the lens. Healing is not an individual act—it is relational and intergenerational. Family systems, parenting, aging, and legacy all matter. We carry baggage at all these levels, and need ways to heal and expand our perspectives on what it means to be human. We take a deep dive into racism, and emerge with a framework for belonging. This volume invites you to see how your healing contributes to something far greater than yourself.
Each volume is designed not just to inform—but to transform. With guided reflection questions, you are invited to pause, examine, and apply what you are learning to your own life, because awareness without action changes nothing. We are change agents who are living the changes we advocate.
