The Next Adventure: India

I planned my first trip to India while a still grad student at Stanford, over 11 years ago. As with most students, I fell ill during the break after winter quarter and ended up not going. The second trip I planned with my family also fell through. It wasn’t the right time. These would have been sight-seeing trips. Now, India has come together faster than you can say, “Wait, what just happened?”

Let me explain. For a few months, I’ve been exploring an opportunity to go to Hyderabad for meditation and yoga training. On Sunday, I received confirmation that this would be possible. The next day, all the major logistics were put into motion, and came together beautifully. I am leaving in two days! When the timing is right, things fall into place easily and quickly. I’ve been noticing this with all my trips and decisions over the past year. Things work out in unmistakably smooth ways.

This trip is well-timed, as I’ve just finished the Australian leg of my South Pacific tour, with events in Sydney and Gold Coast. New Zealand is going to be on hold, so I can go and simply be in the light of heartfulness meditation, yoga, and much more. I am going to Kanha Shanti Vanam, an ashram in Hyderabad, where I look forward to meeting many people from around the world, meditating in groups, and being alone to recharge myself.

It’s been a year and a half since Vipassana in the California desert, and I’m ready for more deep introspection as well as professional development that I can leverage to help my clients. And, my self-love practice would benefit greatly from some time away from trauma work, to create space for stillness and to channel more creative projects. I still haven’t finished the books I was inspired to write during my Vipassana retreat, but I welcome more inspiration.

My thanks go to Sashi Kiran for putting me in touch with her contacts at the ashram. I look forward to a time of sacredness. I will be writing when I can – stay tuned for updates from Hyderabad!
