6 Types of People You Cannot Trust
Trust is a rare commodity. Once lost, it’s very difficult to regain. It can be earned by being authentic, sincere and consistent. The same goes for people you would like to trust. To do this we have to be vigilant and observant of others’ behaviors, so that we can protect ourselves from social and emotional harm as well as mental stress. It may be okay to give people a second chance, however it is equally important to recognize the signs and characteristics of people who may take advantage of your trust.
Here are 6 types of people you cannot trust:
1. A person who disguises insults as a joke. It may sound funny to them but you may feel it and know in your inner being that it was meant to hurt you.
2. A person who will never take accountability, but has no problem always blaming you. This may not only make you feel uncomfortable but slowly erode your self-confidence. They are not healthy for you and you need to be aware of this.
3. A person who says they always want the best for you, but then works against you. Initially you may not be aware or understand what is happening, but when you stop and think about it, and listen to feedback from other people, it begins to make sense. You see the pattern.
4. A person whose words and actions do not match. This soon becomes evident if we stop to observe and take time to notice the contradictions.
5. You cannot trust a person who plants seeds of doubt into you, disguised as something else, like concern for you. Once you realize they are putting you down with their concern, and questioning your abilities, you will want to create distance from such people.
6. You can’t trust a person who always tries to sabotage you, or makes things harder for you. But always has an excuse for everything. Insecure people sabotage others, and once you see this pattern, you can’t unsee it. Choose your close circle wisely.
It is not easy to foster healthy relationships until we feel comfortable to trust a person. Long-term partnerships depend heavily on trust, consistency and transparency. So, recognizing the characteristics or signs of people early on is essential. Also, observing their daily behaviors and actions will keep us on the right path of emotional safety.
