Angelic Assignments: 8 Signs You’re Serving

I recently spent some time in Australia. The official excuse for going was a milestone birthday party for someone I love and feel a lot of commitment towards. I had no intention of doing much else, although my coaching work is ongoing, and I ended up landing a contract in Fiji while away, which was fun.

The real reasons for my visit to Australia turned out to be quite different. They included service to my family members – simply holding energy and space for them in their challenges and transitions. I was also able to visit a dying aunt to pay my respects. My work with a collaborator took a quantum leap, bringing results beyond my imagination.

My friend Emily has dubbed these experiences “Angelic Assignments” and it’s one of the books on my list to write. These experiences have been happening nonstop for a few years now.

Here are some ways to know you’re serving in a guided way:

  1. You have no control, and control doesn’t work. You can’t control every detail of your itinerary, or anything at all really. What you do isn’t mental, it comes from intuition. When you try to impose control, things don’t go the way you want them to. That’s when you realize you’re not in charge.
  2. You become a vessel for the work. Instead of deciding on the work, the work decides on you and you are guided to implement it. The work comes from a divine source that uses you as a vessel. Of course, you put your best effort forward every time, but you surrender outcomes.
  3. The work doesn’t feel typical. Service doesn’t feel like a drag; it’s not stressful. What you do feels soulful, heartfelt, and spiritual. You are under no obligations and you have nothing to prove; instead you experience dedication.
  4. You’re in a state of creative flow. More often than not, you lose track of time and don’t feel tired, but rather inspired as you’re executing the tasks that are in the moment. Later when the work is done, you feel a bit dazed and then grateful for the ability to be so productive in service of others.
  5. You feel joy and serenity. Once you finish the work, you embody a state of contentment and you have a certain glow about you that unmistakably comes from joy. You have transcended life’s mediocrity and embraced wholeness.
  6. People don’t know why, but they want to be around you. Your energy is aligned, so you radiate in ways that draw others toward you. It’s not you – it’s the energy of the true self – and it’s irresistible because we all seek that deep alignment and the fulfillment it brings.
  7. You maintain the highest integrity. When others tell you things about you, you are usually able to take it personally and stay true to your path. It bears remembering that even higher than integrity is the one principle without which life would be desolate: love.
  8. You become love. When all is said and done, love wins. It wins over integrity, boundaries, and every other construct. It is the strongest and most viable way to live. You become a loving force in the world. I am not there yet, and I know because this lesson keeps coming, and because life is a journey of learning. I hope the next time this lesson comes, I can give in without resistance.

As I reflect on my experiences in Australia, I realize once again: my purpose as a spirit being in a human body is to go where I am guided to go, and do the work that is placed in front of me. The work happens through me, and when it’s time to go, I leave. When this gypsy life began about almost four years ago, I was scared of the uncertainty. Now, I do better at trusting, surrendering, and going with the flow. I know I’m taken care of, no matter what happens.

Of course, I’m human and I fail a lot. One instance that was particularly humbling during the Australia trip was when I was holding energy for someone else but took it in, became compromised, and vented it out on a loved on. Once I restored myself, I was able to apologize and set things right. This led to another win for love.

My only hope is that the future holds many more opportunities for me to learn, grow, and serve. Life is a process of change smothered in love. It is my mission to bring light to this truth.

Returning from angelic assignments and watching the sunset from 30,000 feet.

Thank you foe expressing my life’s path so poignantly. In my younger days
I was always amazed how so many “coincidences collided to produce results of actions and interventions that I would hold in my minds eye.
Now that I’ve evolved to a greater good and working with powerful women across the region in the arena of Women’s Collective Empowerment and dedicated my life to restoring the Sacred Feminine Principle to all aspects of our lives I am no longer amazed rather lovingly grateful that I’m now working my dreams and loving my work.
