Year in Review: 11 Highlights of 2022

Reflecting on 2022 has brought a lot into focus. One of our realizations was that we often do so much and fail to recognize it, because we are inspired and in the flow of things. This is how 2022 went for us. We went with the flow of new consulting projects, new coaching clients who showed up and were ready to change their lives, new services that we birthed, and new learning that we embraced. We also continued to practice slowing down and making use of what is sometimes most productive thing: good quality rest.

Even as we explore the balance between doing and resting, we are mindful of the importance of reflection and acknowledging milestones. Here’s a summary of the highlights of 2022 for us:

  1. Facilitation: We supported professional and community leaders in the feminist movement, and in the environmental arena with our workshops. We focused on self-care, collective care, how to manage internalized patriarchy, team dynamics, conflict resolution, and how to set boundaries. We were inspired by the ways in which our workshop participants learned from us and how we learned from them!
  2. Teaching: We taught our foundational self-love course, consisting of healing and learning meditation, discussions, and reflections based on our book, The Path to Romantic Success: What you won’t Learn in School or at Home about True Love, and culminating in a retreat that included soulful bonding and awarding of certificates in a beautiful natural setting. In 2023, we are teaching the next course in our leadership series: Catalytic: Transforming Abuse into Empowerment, based on our book, From Abused to Empowered: Recognizing and Releasing Behavior Patterns that come from Trauma.
  3. Reports: We wrote reports on our workshops and consulting services for several clients, recommending next steps for change management, team dynamics, leadership, and collective care policy, as well as validating secondary climate research with primary research for a climate change resilience program.
  4. Coaching: We took on new coaching clients, all of whom approached us and were ready to transform their lives and in some cases, careers, through deep work. We maintained coaching for existing clients who are growing steadily, both professionally and personally. This continues to be one of the most rewarding parts of our work: guiding those who are ready, willing, and committed to more healing, purpose and abundance.
  5. Stakeholder Interviews: As part of a consulting project, we coordinated and conducted over 55 interviews in Fiji and the Pacific region, focused on climate change and micro-finance, and attended meetings and seminars to network with relevant stakeholders involved in this field, with the goal of helping vulnerable communities.
  6. Books: We published four new books, including two volumes of poetry about patriarchy, and love respectively, an autobiography, and our second Sculpting Positivity volume inspired by our show, Mornings with Marilyn.
  7. Journals: We began producing journals, and released four, focused on empowerment, gratitude, reflection, and self-love, to empower anyone who is ready to use the quotes within the journals to propel them into transformative reflection.
  8. New Services: We launched Flourishing Foods, our catering service that focuses on plant-based, gluten-free fare that is low oil, low salt, and has no refined sugar. We also launched TreatBox: plant-based, gluten-free and zero refined sugar treats for special occasions – so far Raksha Bandhan, Fiji Day and Prophet Mohammed’s birthday, Diwali, and Christmas. We became foodpreneurs and it has been such a joyful journey! A labor of love and passion, channeling our undying adoration for wellness into delicious foods and treats.
  9. Speaking Engagements: We spoke at a range of venues, including local and international, in person and virtual, on topics such as Stress, NCDs and Wellness (FBC’s Aaina), Women’s Empowerment (Women’s Federation for World Peace – Fiji), our Living and Leading Authentically Framework (Leadership Fiji) thanks to the wonderful Sidhant Bali Maharaj, and Alchemus Prime’s journey (Journey of an Entrepreneur with the amazing Sri Mahabir).
  10. Service: We continued our signature free services, including Mornings with Marilyn (Facebook and TikTok), Beyond Medicine (Facebook), and Dr. An (Facebook), helping people reflect on and engage with us on topics like positivity, mindfulness, wellness, and trauma.
  11. Professional Development: We undertook courses on Gender and Social Inclusion (GESI), course design, and various aspects of Disaster Risk Management (DRM), including leadership, exercise management, and diversity and inclusion.

We are excited for 2023, and looking forward to starting the year off with more surrender, and more flow, not to mention a lot of coaching and consulting already secured with more in the pipeline.
