Ecosystems: Understanding Organizational Change

In a recent post I wrote about how humans and nature are wired to respond to stressors by strengthening relationships. This excellent report by the Center for Creative Leadership states that organizations experience change in the same ways that ecosystems do: change is widespread and demands adaptation. Humans, however, don’t always respond by becoming more adaptive. Authors of the report also lay out a 4-step path for how to effect systemic change in an organization, following after nature’s processes of ecological succession. There are also guidelines for how different networks function during the transition process, and tips for leaders who are at the forefront of implementing organization-wide change.

Thanks to Bowine Wijffels for sending me the report.
