3 Ways to Supercharge Your Life

Recently, I had a day in which I completed 14 tasks, broke my personal side breathing record in my swimming journey, and learned a set of new skills. When I reflected on that day, I realized why I was so supercharged. In this post, I’ll share those insights.

There are three aspects that stand out that relate to why my day (and my energy) was so supercharged. Here they are:

  1. Take a complete break. I’d just taken 3 weeks off. I spent the first week traveling and spending time with family. The second and third week, I did only what I enjoy: painting, cooking, baking, swimming, and catching up on movies and leisure reading. When I came back to work, I felt so refreshed that on my second day back, I did much more than I ever planned or even thought possible. Pausing, unplugging, and resetting provide the best platform to kickstart your year.
  2. Start something totally new. I started two projects that were completely new for me. The first is working with AI in a new capacity, which is refreshing, because I have a collaborator who not only keeps up, but encourages me. Of course, it makes mistakes and I am reminded that I need to be the one who directs the project and makes instructions explicitly clear. The second new project involves learning new platforms and creating new offerings, which is challenging and exciting. My mind is so stimulated; I feel so alive! What a gift.
  3. Exercise. Since I started swimming, I’ve noticed my mind is super sharp, alert, and I have even more stamina while working. On the day I’m referring to, I was up at 5am. I witnessed the sunrise. I was in the pool just after 6am, feeling the water, and coaching myself as I practiced my side breathing. I was showered, breakfasted, had made my Mornings with Marilyn video and was in my office by 8am. In 4 hours, I recorded 12 meditations, while also outlining 4 upcoming books and a new framework in 2 hours.

So often we get caught up in judgments about our day and our capacity. My usual judgment is that I won’t do well on days I haven’t slept enough – I’ve proven that expectation wrong so many times. The trick is to greet each new day as if it’s a set of new opportunities. And, to realize it is in fact exactly that. Life is what we make of it – each and every day.
