2023: Year in Review for Alchemus Prime

Well, as I began reflecting on the year that was, it felt like it had passed by so fast, but in fact it was a very full year for us. We grew our coaching and consulting business, did more facilitation (which I love), and wrote another 5 books, bringing our grand total to 37 (16 poetry volumes, 11 self-help books, 9 cookbooks plus an autobiography we designed and published) with one more new journal – we now have 5 on offer, focusing on empowerment, reflection, gratitude, self-love, and trauma healing.

As I reflect on how I grew, I look to the firsts that I experienced. I traveled to new and very different countries, connecting with new people in deep ways, and working with international, regional and local colleagues to create meaningful change. Another first for me was to teach one of the inaugural courses (design thinking and using it to make innovation a habit, yeah!) on the Bioneers learning platform – what a fun and intense experience that was, after speaking at this year’s conference and facilitating a design thinking workshop face to face there.

I enjoyed learning via a range of professional development courses including climate change and disaster risk reduction, partnership brokering, and conflict management, and writing various reports based on stakeholder consultations, workshop facilitation, and strategic planning to help guide badass feminist organizations and health professionals.

Perhaps the biggest achievement for me was to seek help in the form of coaching to process and overcome my vigilance and post-traumatic stress from a family emergency that occurred last year, and one that occurred this year. I am proud to have uplifted myself and I now stand in the firm conviction that no person can do everything alone – we must rely on trusted support to navigate the curveballs life throws our way. This also means keeping our distance from those who are not supportive.

A great achievement for Margaret has been to slow down, both physically and mentally and to accept quality of life improvements even as she keeps quite busy with her creative and analytical pursuits. We are learning to accept life transitions and be more mindful – lifelong lessons that one can always improve upon.

As the year comes to a close, we are taking time to slow down, relax and reflect. What are your milestones this year and how do you hope to start 2024? Share with us and let’s grow together.
