Learning and Loving in India: The Most Important Characteristic of Heartfulness

As I’ve been describing to you, my experiences in India have been transformative, reflective, and affirming.

I want to continue my India series with the most profound aspect of heartfulness. What I noticed the most about people who are in the heartfulness movement is this: they are loving. It is the first thing you notice about them. They are kind, helpful, and generous. They embody service. They go the extra mile. They are accomplished, intelligent, and humble. They have a can-do attitude. It’s an irresistible combination, because it’s exactly what we need in the world right now: humble, loving badassity. Service with heart.*

Think about it: as we move through our days, we are surrounded by all kinds of chaos: whether it’s rushing the kids to school, stressing about our mortgages or work situations, or wailing over climate change, politics, epidemic lifestyle diseases, toxics, plastics, extinctions, or any number of interconnected crises, we are bombarded by bad news.

Under these circumstances, nothing is more crucial than a reminder to pause and remember what is most important: love.

Because the heartfulness technique develops the power of the heart for decision-making and service, AND removes trauma, it is a very potent tool for creating the kind of world we want and need. Heartfulness is building the leadership and organizational systems we need to usher in the new world – a world where we love and give from the heart. An authentic, peaceful, and safe world. Don’t take my word for it, experience it for yourself at Kanha Shanti Vanam.

*By contrast, many of those who work at Kanha but are not heartfulness meditators have a very different energy. You can tell. Sometimes, that loving touch is missing in their service. I would love to see a heartfulness training for all the staff, and would be honored to conduct it.
