Win-wins for Climate Change

NYU Prof. Dale Jamieson’s interview in the New York Times on what is needed for humans to address climate change is excellent, with many important points. This suggests that his book, “Reason in a Dark Time: Why the Struggle to Stop Climate Change Failed — and What It Means for Our Future,” is definitely worth a read.

I’ll highlight just two of Jamieson’s points:

  1. Do what makes sense to do anyway – what Jamieson calls a “no regrets” policy and what I call a win-win approach, e.g. move people away from places that are vulnerable to sea level rise
  2. Practice what Jamieson calls green virtues: “cooperativeness, mindfulness, simplicity, temperance and respect for nature.” Almost exactly what biomimicry teaches us about leadership
