Football Club Goes Vegan

In an unprecedented move, British National League club Forest Green Rovers has begun serving only vegan fare. They gave up on meat-based offerings in 2011, and in October 2015 they took dairy off the menu.

Club chairman Dale Vince says this was a good move, especially given that the World Health Organization has linked red and processed meat with cancer. The club also plans to go organic and install solar panels.

Says Vince, “The meat and dairy industry is responsible for more emissions than all the world’s planes, trains, cars and boats put together.”

Now there’s an example of a win-win solution: healthier footballers in the world’s first vegan football club, AND more greenhouse gas reductions!
